Daniël Rijaard[edit]

Daniël Rijaard is born in Rotterdam, Netherlands,and not in the Netherlands Antilles!

Where he was born doesn't matter. What matters is under which licence he plays (Netherlands Antilles) and most importantly: which country he represents (Netherlands Antilles). Ali Elkhattabi, Nourdin Boukhari and so many others were born in the Netherlands, but they represent Morocco and they play under a Moroccan licence, so they get the Moroccan flag. Daniël Rijaard represents the Netherlands Antilles (he has played for them on April 2nd, 2004, against Antigua and Barbuda). Therefore Rijaard is an Antillean football player. Ali Boussabon isn't born in the Netherlands but in Tanger,Morocco

At VI.nl,if you click on 'Spelers (players)' and you search for Rijaard,you see his license and next to 'Nationaliteit (nationality)' stands 'Nederlands (Dutch).'

Nationality is not the same as licence or the country a player represents internationally. If you look at the squad of FC Barcelona, it features many players who have more than one nationality (Belletti, Motta, Maxi, Edmilson, Sylvinho, Deco and Saviola). In many of those cases, the country a player represents is different from the football licence of that player. Just look at Javier Saviola, who represents Argentina but uses a Spanish football licence. The point I'm trying to make is that nationality (just like the place of birth) is not really relevant if you want to "flag" a player. What matters is the licence (and nationality is no proof of licence) and the representation (in the case of Rijaard obviously the Netherlands Antilles). If it were to become clear that Daniel Rijaard plays under a Dutch licence, he would need to get two flags: of the Netherlands and of the Netherlands Antilles. But until then, the only measure is the country he represents, and that is the Netherlands Antilles. Aecis 23:08, 11 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

A fine example of this is set by Ugur Yildirim, who has both a Dutch and a Turkish passport. Because he has chosen to represent the Netherlands, he is "flagged" with a Dutch flag. How he uses his Turkish passport as a human being and how he feels about it is not relevant in a football-related article. As a football player, Yildirim has chosen not to do anything with his Turkish nationality. As a football player, he is Dutch. Daniël Rijaard probably has a Dutch passport, but as a football player, it's not sure he has done anything with it. What is certain is what he has done with his Antillean passport: it was his ticket to the Antillean national football team. So again: if Daniel Rijaard uses his Dutch passport as a football player, the Dutch flag should be shown alongside the Antillean flag. Until that has been proven, only the Antillean flag counts. Home shirt[edit]

There are also green vertical stripes on the home shirt of ADO Den Haag.

I've been trying to fix that by creating and uploading a shirt with green stripes, but the yellow stripes don't show up on that one, so I'll create and upload a shirt with green and yellow stripes as soon as possible, and that shirt will then replace the shirt currently in the infobox. Where in the article can i put that ADO Den Haag has been Dutch champion in 1942 and 1943?

I found Image:ADO Den Haag logo.svg and noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. Someone will need to specify the owner of the copyright.
