South Australian National Football League numbers[edit]

The South Australian National Football League cap is listed at $400,000, but the average player is listed at $46,000? That would give an average of 9 players per team. Also, the per game salary is listed $2,000. At 20 games per season, that means average player salary is $40,000. That would give an average of 10 players per team. Seems like the math is wrong on these. Since the non-total numbers are uncited, I have removed them. If someone wants to revert, then please explain the math or provide a cite. OK, but what does a salary cap do?[edit]

The lead of this article seems to be written for people already au fait with AFL . It doesn't briefly tell me the reader how it is applied, like is it the top salary for a player. I'm afraid even reading the whole article doesn't really help much. Any AFL aficionados around who might like to make a useful short explanatory addition to the lead.
