Ilene Woods[edit]

Twice now I've reverted the removal of Ilene Woods as the credited singer of this song in the original Disney film Cinderella. Although I have seen contradictory information about this online, it is erroneous. (I think it was on IMDB, crediting the live model for the rotoscoping for the singling.) A quick glance at the DVD extra cited in the article should dispel any doubts, and there are lots of Disney books that can confirm the credit as well. Please don't replace reliably sourced accuracy with a "correction" to something another website got wrong. Thank you. --Karen | Talk | contribs 07:55, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Liszt[edit]

I've listened to both "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" (1950) and Liszt's "Ricordanza" (S. 139/No. 9) and I can't hear the resemblance; I've also looked over the sheet music, and they look as different as they sound. And there's no reference. There's no documentary evidence, no cited source that proves this connection or even shows where the idea came from. And I'm a little suspicious of this attempt to give the credit for a famous popular song to this relatively obscure classical piece, as though popular songwriters couldn't write melodies without leaning on classical composers for support. Who needs the condescension? (And I also don't think they're similar even in a broad way anyway; the song is meant to be singeable and *not* overly-complicated; Liszt tended to write *very* complicated stuff meant *only* for highly advanced pianists like himself....) But however you interpret the origin of the assertion, the point is this isn't somebody's personal blog where you can make free association: if there's no clear and obvious connection--doesn't sounds the same, doesn't look the same-- and no citation with real analysis and proof, then there's nothing appropriate about going off on how, say, this piano riff by The Fray reminds you of a variation on a theme by Paganini; that's just free association, and it's just not consistent with the attitude that Wikipedia takes towards things. So, I suggest that we remove this idea, and if nobody responds, I'm at least going to put up a 'citation needed' flag on my own. Knightofcups89 (talk) 01:55, 12 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I just just went through the same listening exercise, and I don't hear it, either, and the citation to disneyhipsters.com is a dead link. Life is too short. I'm taking it out. MrTetragon (talk) 19:23, 17 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Other Disney media[edit]

As well-advised as the section on 'dreams as a recurring Disney theme' is, it omits a more modern example - "I've Got a Dream" from 2010's Tangled. This song uses the same idea of 'dreams' as 'wishes' in the classic Disney manner but hasn't been mentioned.
