Abbot or Abbott?[edit]

Apparently conclusive

Is there any particular reason for the lack of Concordance on the spelling of the name? Is there any citable reference from the period concerned for either spelling? Thanks in advance, Eddaido (talk) 22:11, 23 March 2018 (UTC) (PS see signs in the featured museum photographs)[reply]

You might want to try sorting the spellings geographically. The spelling in Concord, NH, clearly seems to be "Abbot". See, for example, Abbot Downing Elementary School and the Abbot-Downing Historical Society. So far, the only "Abbott" I've seen is on the sign at the Hadley, Massachusetts, museum. Maybe you have more in your other sources? --Ken Gallager (talk) 12:20, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Ken. The other mentions you have just made and the 1871 catalog which I have begun to upload all have just the one T and that's enough for me. I will make sure I've left no double Ts about. Eddaido (talk) 21:53, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
