  • The Russian Wikipedia version (as translated by Google Translate) now says:

Born in 1979 in the northern province of Saada. Father, Badr al-Din Hussein al-Husi, was an outstanding religious leader of the Shiite sect of Zeidis. Abdul-Malik al-Husi was the youngest of his eight brothers. His older brother Hussein al-Husi was an active politician and member of the Yemeni parliament. He also founded the Al-Husi movement, which fights for the rights of the Zeidis.

On December 26, 2009, the media reported that he died of wounds received as a result of a Saudi air force raid on one of the militant bases. [1] However, the information was refuted [2]. Later, an audio message appeared that he agreed to the terms of the armistice proposed by the government, in order to avoid civilian casualties, and called on the government to stop hostilities against his followers. [3]

Late at night on January 20, 2015, Abdul-Malik al-Husi addressed the nation on Yemeni TV after the Houthis seized the presidential palace and attacked the private residence of Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi in Sana'a. He demanded reforms from Hadi to give the Houthis more control over parliament [4]. Although it was initially reported that Hadi would accept al-Husi's demands [5], Hadi submitted a letter of resignation, which was to be considered by parliament. [6]
