question[edit]

I don't think the "Friends" characters went to Lincoln high school in Brooklyn. I think they were from Long Island. Is there a reference for that?

establishment date?[edit]

Anyone know the exact year? j-beda 16:11, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone know if Lincoln is still hosting productions of SING! ? Respond here, or update the SING! article directly. Thanks. Simon12 01:15, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ed Stiefel ’58[edit]

I added a couple of names which are notable in that they already have Wikipedia articles. Stiefel would be the 2nd person on the list without an article. I am not the person to write it, as most of the obituaries and other materials are in journals you have to pay to read online. I am hoping a chemist with good library access could tackle this. Best (only?) free obit is from Princeton’s PR people. (I could read them for free at the Library of Congress, assuming I could figure out which of his discoveries are most notable; on the other hand we were classmates K–12, so I might be biased.)

Sports and other achievements[edit]

For the last ten years or so, Lincoln has been a basketball powerhouse. Someone should write a paragraph about this.

What about other sports? Other competitions such as chess, photography, math, and so on?

Are there any notable faculty?

"In the news" section[edit]

I think this section might violate our policy that Wikipedia is not a newspaper, so I have removed it. @Nothing149: could you discuss here, rather than edit warring to keep this section in the article?

Also pinging @Isaidnoway and SpyMagician: who also removed this section. epicgenius (talk) 16:35, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I also agree this section is not appropriate content, and not only does it violate WP:NOTNEWSPAPER, this section is also not compliant with WP:UNDUE, WP:NPOV, WP:BLP and WP:BLPCRIME. According to the article guidelines at WikiProject Schools - School articles must be balanced, and not give undue prominence to events outside the control of the school, that have involved staff or students...Wikipedia articles about schools must be neutral. The purpose is not to bring shame to educational institutions....The fact that such activities may be reported in the press is no business of an encyclopedia. Persistent reinsertion of such content may result in sanctions for the editor. Including the name of a student who was suspended in 2014, is really beyond the pale for me, leave this entire section out. Isaidnoway (talk) 19:36, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the idea that “ petty crime” and “teenagers” is only something that just started is a relatively naive mindset. The section does not belong. --SpyMagician (talk) 02:31, 11 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I feel like since this is news that involves the school, than it belongs in an article about the school. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nothing149 (talkcontribs) 23:29, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The problem with this, is that it directly goes against our policy that Wikipedia is not a newspaper. Not all news articles about a topic are suitable for mention in a page about that topic. For instance, why do we care that six years ago there was a bomb message that turned out to be fake? Or that a student was suspended in 2014? epicgenius (talk) 01:37, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
