This so-called "article" really needs help.[edit]

Where do I begin? The article's titled "absorption (skin)" but then goes on to say "absorption is a route by which substances can exit the body through the skin."

1) that's not what "absorption" is (we need a proper definition); 2) absorption refers to any method by which a drug is absorbed (isn't this common sense even to those who don't know anything about pharmacokinetics?/I'll try to make myself feel better by telling myself that perhaps it's a typo); 3) the word "exit"... I hope I don't really need to say more about this; 4) "inhalation" isn't the proper term for "inhaling" drugs. Just read the article, inhalation... (Hint: see insufflation); 5) ingestion isn't the proper term to use either (ingestion is merely ingestion--it doesn't necessarily mean oral ingestion); ...

I could go on with this, but it's too ridiculous. The whole thing should just be re-written. And here are some recommendations:

The article should be on "absorption" or "drug absorption", period, and list all the methods of absorption in a sub-category. (OK fine, I see that there's an absorption_(pharmacokinetics) article, but that article lacks adequate explanation and termnology of drug absorption routes as well.) There isn't enough content to qualify "absorption (skin)" under its own article page. Also, insufflation, etc. are methods of absorption as well so the first sentence is already jacked from the second word. I didn't even bother reading the entire paragraph. The first couple sentences alone need about 5 template banners. I'd recommend it for deletion (or re-write) but I have to get back to studying. Hopefully someone else with more time, and hopefully some knowledge, comes across this thing one day. --70.59.145.128 (talk) 10:59, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
