Accord In Fiction[edit]

Apparently the real town of Accord and one of it's classic citizens made an appeareance in Joe comics. Details here. http://www.yojoe.com/comics/sm/sm12.shtml Lots42 (talk) 03:39, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Honda Accord/The Stuff[edit]

Photos in early brochures for the Honda Accord were shot at various places in Accord (e.g., businesses that had "Accord" in the name) and the vicinity. Part of the movie The Stuff (1985) was filmed in Accord; IMDB also lists Night of the Living Jews (2008) and Shelter Dogs (2003). Anyone who wants to track down verifiability documentation is welcome to do so and include these points. --Spoofed IP 173.161.195.122 (talk) 14:59, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation[edit]

@98.15.140.141: is contesting the pronunciation of the town's name. They think it should be: /ˈ[invalid input: 'a]kɔːrd/ and not /ˈækɔːrd/ [1]. Their explanation: "Accord is pronounced with a regular short a, emphasis on the A. A'kord, not any other way. It rhymes with the French word "D'accord" meaning okay. It is not ae, like aesthetic, nor is it uhcord'. When the French Huguenots came hundreds of years ago to New Paltz, a few came to this side of the mountain. "Do you want to stay here by this beautiful creek?" "D'accord." This is not a hard pronunciation. If you are going to live here, learn it."[2]. @TFFfan:, please discuss here. I myself have no position either way as I do not have a source for this.--Eostrix (talk) 12:05, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Eostrix: I have no references as well as this IP. I think that pronunciation should be removed until a citation is found. --TFFfan (talk) 12:13, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That's a plausible solution as well, but lets see if we can find a source or get a comment from the IP.--Eostrix (talk) 12:15, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
hudsonvalleycountry says "ACK-kord". I will admit to be clueless on how to frame this in IPA.--Eostrix (talk) 12:21, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Eostrix: I found this source. It seems to be pronounced uh-cord. --TFFfan (talk) 12:22, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have my doubts on the reliability of pronouncekiwi here, appears to be a wiki site or based on votes. And it has only one vote for this one.--Eostrix (talk) 12:30, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Eostrix: Let's go with your source, and see what happens. Should I add it in? --TFFfan (talk) 12:38, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If you understand on how to do this in IPA (I don't), please go ahead.--Eostrix (talk) 12:39, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Eostrix:  Already done. It was correct to start with. --TFFfan (talk) 12:46, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Paleolithic site?[edit]

Is there any evidence at all for the Paleolithic site described in the History section? It was added in 2015 by an anonymous user. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/24.161.36.188

This seems like it might be vandalism to me at this point. Phripley (talk) 17:14, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
