Allegations

Per policy, allegations of a crime should note be included in an article unless a conviction is secured. Specifically "A living person accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty and convicted by a court of law. For subjects who are not public figures, editors must seriously consider not including material in any article suggesting that the person has committed, or is accused of committing, a crime unless a conviction is secured."--Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 22:00, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

He's a famous musician, that would make him a public figure, right? I'm pretty sure the Bill Cosby allegations were included on his page despite never being convicted. 184.96.42.19 (talk) 22:18, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

  • I would hardly equate the two as the depth of coverage by reliable sources on the two topics differs dramatically. Also, in this case there are only allegations with no actual charges. Even if you do make the argument that the cases are equivalent, the Cosby article has been shaped through significant discussion. If such consensus for inclusion is achieved in this case, the the material can be added, but per policy it needs to be removed until there is consensus for its inclusion. --Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 22:29, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

There should be a section at the bottom called "Allegations," and the last paragraph of "Recognition" should be placed there. And there are several other articles backing up allegations against him that should / could be included.

THANK YOU GOD DAMN IT

Partly done: Be more specific in that second part of your request, if you will. And please - Stay civil. JWNoctistalk to me 16:17, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

  • Are the admins worried that Bambaataa might sue Wikipedia for 'violations' of BLP (which allegedly happened int he case of Dame Dash's page? I don't see why the allegations section had to be removed, considering that the evidence is starting to pile up against Bambaataa's favour. 82.32.148.174 (talk) 09:46, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
Personal opinion: Every editor's supposed to uphold the rules, especially with ones like WP:BLP. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia for established information, not a tabloid. JWNoctistalk to me 15:07, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

Question

Is any interest group or individual actively protecting Mr. Bambaataa in Wikipedia, or why is it that there is no mention of his pedophilia and his sexual abuse of children anywhere on the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.204.183.174 (talk) 10:46, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

There isn't. Please see WP:BLP. Concerning legal issues, caution and reliable sourcing is required. As noted above, no charges have yet been filed. Also, please see the comments above. Karst (talk) 11:19, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

With Afrika Bambaataa having directly denied the child abuse allegations, this is a fact that should be added as it is the first time he has commented about this issue. Not done: Per WP:BLPCRIME, no detail of such allegation or denial would be added until the dust settles. Also, be careful with that semi-protected edit request template, you seemed to have removed them. JWNoctistalk to me 00:59, 12 May 2016 (UTC)

Name

There are now a number of variations that seem to tie in with the discussion above. Nothing short of a birth certificate will almost do now in this case. The Lance Taylor appears to come from AMG Electronic music. Has anyone got a copy? The Grove has Kevin Donovan. I reverted it to his current name unless there is some kind confirmation as this is a serious BLP issue. Karst (talk) 10:33, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
