I'd love to edit a bit of this article, and ones pertaining to peralkaline melts, however, I would like to know what the consensus seems to be with experts in mineralogy. A more recent definition of the term agpaitic seems to constrain it to rocks that not only exhibit complex Zr- and Ti-silicates, but ALSO do not contain zircon and titanite, other than at trace amounts.

Some recent publications include

  • Marks et al's The Mineralogical Diversity of Alkaline Igneous Rocks: Critical Factors for the Transition from Miaskitic to Agpaitic Phase Assemblages (J. Petrology (2011) 52 (3): 439-455.)
  • Frost and Frost's A geochemical classification for feldspathic igneous rocks (J. Petrology (2008) 49 (11): 1955-1969.) available here.

Would anyone care to extrapolate on this? FelisSchrödingeris (talk) 20:24, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You are welcome to edit the article. I started the stub back in 2009 and it hasn't seen any activity since. I am not an expert on this rare rock type, just found it interesting. Vsmith (talk) 22:31, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
