BAe 146 - Mt Cook Airline and the historic list

My last edit was silly, I misread the meaning of replaced, which is perhaps a little ambiguous the way it is presented. However in doing that I realised that the Whisper Jets obtained from the demise from Ansett were operated by Mount Cook Airline and not Air New Zealand itself - Mt Cook aircraft are not included in this list. Evidence for this can be seen on the photograph of the 146 on this page with Mount Cook Airline Ltd" written under the cockpit windows. Now I suspect it would not be very useful removing the 146s from this list, but it does suggest that making the distinction between Air NZ and its wholly owned subsidiaries is fraught with problems such as this in a number of articles. I think it would certainly be much better to merge the whole ANZ fleet into one article. Andrewgprout (talk) 07:43, 16 May 2019 (UTC)

The ANZ fleet information is already here. Mount Cook Airline has its own history, it is a separate entity. Having MCA fleet info here is not the answer, if the BAe 146s were MCA aircraft, then they weren't in the ANZ fleet and ought to be removed from here. We need more than just a photo showing titles on a fuselage though. YSSYguy (talk) 19:13, 19 May 2019 (UTC)

I believe the relevant citation is already on the Mount Cook Airline page. The information on this page is incorrect either way. The aircraft were transferred from Qantas New Zealand, not Ansett New Zealand (despite practically being the same company) and 146-200s were never operated by Mount Cook Airline.

EDIT: in fact the source used on the MC page is the same used for the fleet history, and it does mention MC ownership. Biponacci (talk) 00:54, 8 September 2019 (UTC)

Fleet change

Hi All

By the end of the year both Air Nelson and Mount Cook will be merged into Air NZ under the one AOC. So when that happens all the link fleet can be added to this article.CHCBOY (talk) 19:02, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

Potentially merge into the main Air New Zealand article?

I think we can merge this into the main Air New Zealand article, there isn't much of a need for an article dedicated to the fleet TheWikiNewbie (talk) 19:54, 13 September 2019 (UTC)

I think it does need it's own article as it is too long to go into the already very long Air NZ article. With it separate it's easier to find on Wikipedia as well. CHCBOY (talk) 21:14, 13 September 2019 (UTC)

It would be entirely inappropriate to have the table in both articles - we need to rely on the hypertext wiki links to guide readers to the more detailed information here. Andrewgprout (talk) 04:01, 17 September 2019 (UTC)

Mount Cook Airline and Air Nelson no longer subsidiaries

The 1st paragraph needs updating as Mount Cook Airline and Air Nelson are no longer subsidiaries. I hesitate to do it because I'm not sure what "mainline" means. Nurg (talk) 05:40, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

787-10?

The 777-300ER section states that the planes will be replaced by 787-10 by 2027 yet according to the same table, no 787-10s are on order - how could both of these things be true? Either the 777-300ERs are not actually being replaced by 787-10s, or there are 787-10s on order which have been omitted from the table. Unityoc (talk) 12:34, 28 May 2023 (UTC)

The order has since been changed to the 9 variant we should go by the latest press release which state 8 789s on order CHCBOY (talk) 13:20, 31 May 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for the clarification and the edit, I wasn't sure if this was just ancient information that was totally out of date and should be completely removed or a simple edit 787-10 -> 787/787-9 would suffice. Unityoc (talk) 09:13, 1 June 2023 (UTC)

As of today, the unfilled orders table on Boeing's website (https://www.boeing.com/commercial/#/orders-deliveries) says Air New Zealand has 2 unfilled 787-10 orders and 6 unfilled 787-9 orders. This data is apparently of 31 July this year. AV85647 (talk) 21:07, 9 August 2023 (UTC)

• Although it's different from the ref of May which said 8-789s on order your ref is for July so it's more up to date. So we will go with that one.CHCBOY (talk) 04:06, 11 August 2023 (UTC)

According to Air NZ media release 24 August here:https://www.airnewzealand.co.nz/press-release-2023-air-new-zealand-adds-four-new-aircraft-to-regional-and-short-haul-fleet, from the annual report they only have 8 787s on order and not 14 787s on order so the table is currently incorrect CHCBOY (talk) 16:45, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

Fleet confusion regarding dash 8s

This states that Air New Zealand got their De Havilland Bombardier Dash 8s in 2019 upon the collapse of their subsidiary airline, however Air New Zealand has listed 23 Dash 8s in their fleet statistics as early as 2015 (https://p-airnz.com/cms/assets/NZ/PDFs/2015-Annual-Financial-Results.pdf). They don't have stats posted earlier than 2015, so I cant say for certain when they acquired them, but I don't believe 2019 to be the correct date. https://www.planespotters.net/airline/Air-New-Zealand also lists them as joining Air New Zealand's fleet in 2019, but there are many photos prior to this (eg 2012, 2013) on their own website containing Dash 8s with Air New Zealand livery. Does anyone have any idea when Air New Zealand ACTUALLY obtained these? Pirat2000 (talk) 03:56, 21 August 2023 (UTC)

They were bought for the Air NZ subsidery Air Nelson the first one NEA came in 2005. They have always been in the Air NZ livery first the Teal then the current black livery CHCBOY (talk) 17:49, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
