Discussion[edit]

Shouldn't some discussion over the rationale behind construction - the political reasoning - and the consequences be included as well? matt91486 19:37, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And couldn't this page link to Kwame Nkrumah too??--72.67.37.241 06:49, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It does, under Background --babbage 11:59, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have been researching Martin Luther King Jr and his high regard for Nkrumah. Surely some discussion on the visionary leadership of Nkrumah in securing reliable and cheap electricity, as a key part of the liberation of Ghana, is worthwhile?--Graham Proud (talk) 07:44, 2 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Link gives error 404 page not found 17:17 11/12/2012 (gmt) — Preceding unsigned comment added by EpicRandomGeek (talkcontribs)

I find the statement "As a result of the larger companies taking the electricity for themselves and their industry, the people of Ghana have not actually benefited from the dam, which was its original purpose" somewhat contentious. Since the dam provides the majority of electricity that Ghanaians use, how can it be said they haven't benefited? Bdsr 14:16, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I removed that statement now. It had not been attributed, and quite frankly, it never could have been since it was obviously wrong. 81.235.136.245 (talk) 12:15, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Strange ref[edit]

Excuse my ignorance but I haven't come across the ref (Fobil 2003) before. It doesn't seem to link to anything on my computer anyway. SuzanneKn 15:06, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Volta River Authority logo.png[edit]

The image Image:Volta River Authority logo.png is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Objectivity[edit]

This article appears biased against the project. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.210.17.56 (talk) 21:03, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I get that feeling too. E.g. there is a lot of talk about lost farmland etc, but nothing about use or redevelopment of the lake itself (and e.g. freshwater for irrigation purposes, OTOH Ghana isn't exactly a dry country).

Even if my modern standards the netto environmental impact is deeply negative(and it probably is), it would do to paint a complete picture. 88.159.77.5 (talk) 08:52, 30 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Installed Capacity[edit]

A rather basic question: how much electricity does the dam produce? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonathandore (talkcontribs) 16:19, 15 June 2009 (UTC) Turbine output shown in the infobox--Graham Proud (talk) 07:34, 2 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV complaints[edit]

The text "loss of their loved ones’ grave sites", under socioeconomics subsection seems not particularly neutral. In particular the part "loved one's" seems written to try trigger an emotional response, rather than tell the facts of the situation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.90.136.22 (talk) 02:34, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Good point, not neutral at all. I reworded it and will read the rest of the article later to try and pick out anymore non-neutral language. Thanks.--NortyNort (Holla) 04:15, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The statement "...compelled, by contract, to pay for over 50% of the cost...but the country was allowed only 20% of the power" seems not particularly neutral. A contract is, by definition, an agreement.--Graham Proud (talk) 07:39, 2 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
