Campaign Promises

It seems to me that the campaign promises section might need editing. Currently many parts of the selection seem like a collection of platitudes, and I think changing "We" to "Al Gore" would make it a bit more readable. Al Gore's short list

Al Gore's short list included three names: Joe Lieberman,John Kerry and John Edwards.There was no Rep.Gephardt among this list.I will fix it.

Length of Article

I just reduced this article by a few hundred lines, all without deleting any information; I have just added some links. No need to post 1000+ word concession speech, or post every single issue Gore stands for. Nice article though--David Foster 23:08, 28 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I disagree on deletes. Speech was historical end to contested election. Belongs in wikipedia, though perhaps it could be moved to its own article. External reference requires registration and may be removed eventually. Other presidential campaign articles have details about candidates positions during the campaign, rather than a general external link. Information is of value within wikipedia. It's a nice speech, but to call it historic is more than a bit of a stretch. It's just a concession speech, same as Bush in 1992 and Kerry in 2004, and none of them wrote it. True there was controversy in this election, but every election is just as unique and full of debatable points; look at your history. Just because we are alive during this period of time does not this make this speech any more important or historic, maybe if it is framed in the White House or required learning material at Harvard then OK say its historic. Bible belt South

Of all the ridiculously unsourced claims made in this article, I just happened to home in on one. The South has historically the "highest rates of anti-Semitism"? However the hell that's supposed to be measured, I highly doubt it's true by any stretch. There's sure been some ugliness (Leo Frank), but then again from the prominence of Jews in the CSA gov't to the present philo-Semitism dominant in evangelical circles (no, it's not ideal to most Jews, but it certainly has made a lot of overt ugliness rather taboo) I doubt this is very straightforward. I'd suspect the Midwest if anything...but then, my speculation is neither here nor there. At least I'm not putting my neither here-nor-there speculations in an article, all vague and unsourced. I'm no Southerner, but it seems the fact that it's directed against the people of a region makes it a speedy delete candidate. And delete I shall!
