And, frankly, it is a proof of unfathomable ignorance not to be aware of this (given the fact that Dora d'Istria wrote much of her work in Albanian and was known as "the Star of Albania"; she also wrote a work titled, get this, The Albanians in Romania, a History of the Ghica Princes). According to you, the ethnicity that people identify themselves as, should be taken into account. As far as I'm concerned, the Ghika were Hellenized, therefore, they should be identified as Moldavian-Greeks of Albanian origin, not Albanian-Romanian. --Thus Spake Anittas 08:31, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
They are listed in Greeks of Romania as well, for that very reason. Furthermore, aside from the "according to me" (which I cannot even begin to comprehend how you brought about), I have given you sources that list them as Albanians, pure and simple, with or without Dora d'Istria's self-reference. As for Hellenization: if it has a start, it also has an end (no matter what i may think of, Ion Ghica's letters to Alecsandri are not noted for anything if not their anti-Greek jibes). Generally, I tend to take as much as I can into consideration before launching into theories, so please go and waste someone else's time. Dahn 08:36, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As for the "Moldavian" issue, if I need fold back into that argument: the family was present in both principalities, as you should well know before making that comment, and more than half of its members were either Romanian nationals (it's not quite like they were extinguished in 1878...) or Romanian nationalists. Dahn 12:21, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I could find no reliable source that would take into account the possibility that Vasile Lupu was "Aromanian". Dahn 22:10, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vasile Lupu[edit]

It says that Lupu was an ethnic Albanian, but from what I know, there is some controversary that surrounds his origins. There are three theories: the first says he was Aromanian, the second that he was Albanian, and the third that he was Bulgarian. Should we present them all? If I find a source that argues that he was Aromanian, will I be allowed to include it, or will it be removed? --Thus Spake Anittas 08:52, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anittas, your personal theories are not theories, and what you dispute is not disputed. If that source is in any way reliable, it will be included as an alternative in the article on him; an alternative, because, you see, the overwhelming burden of sources indicate he was Albanian. Btw, the "third theory" also belongs to some wikipedians, not to sources. Dahn 08:58, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Why do you say that they are my theories? How can I make my own theories on Lupu? What were you thinking when you wrote that? If the sources are reliable, then I believe that they should be included in the article on him and I also believe that they should be included in articles where he is mentioned for being an ethnical Albanian. The sources will be reliable, of course. If you disagree on this, I will open up a consensus about it. --Thus Spake Anittas 10:18, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
