y Giroud[edit]

The y Giroud is not currently bolded with the rest of the name at the beginning of the intro. Should it be? RJFJR 02:27, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fought with the Spanish Army from 1916-1927 in Morocco. Bayo was asked by Castro to organize an instruction program on guerrilla warfare. In the 1930's he served as a colonel in the Republican air force. Went to Mexico to teach aviation. Taken from Fidel Castro by Robert E. Quirk for W. W. Norton & Company, page 105. This book also says Alberto Bayo was unfamiliar with guerrilla warfare. I did find Comandante Che: Guerrilla Soldier, Commander, and Strategist, 1956-1967 by Paul Jaime Dosal for Penn State Press, page 24, where it is stated Che studied guerrilla warfare under Bayo who directed guerrilla operations during the Spanish Civil War. So it is confusing. The Dosal book goes on to state in 1936 Bayo led 3000 men in an amphibious invasion of Majorca in the Balearic Islands, land already captured by General Francisco Franco. Bayo and his small naval flotilla were forced to retreat after 1 month of fighting. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.67.140.83 (talk) 20:30, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
