This article has been mentioned by multiple media organizations:

Glenn Greenwald and Peter Maass (December 19, 2014). "Meet Alfreda Bikowsky, the Senior Officer at the Center of the CIA's Torture Scandals". The Intercept. Bikowsky's name, and her long string of controversial actions, have become such an open secret that she even has her own lengthy, detailed Wikipedia page. The entry describes her as a 'career Central Intelligence Agency officer who has headed ... the Global Jihad unit.'
Connie Bruck (June 22, 2015). "The Inside War: To expose torture, Dianne Feinstein fought the C.I.A.—and the White House". The New Yorker. The argument over how Bikowsky should be identified in the report was particularly freighted. The main character in the movie "Zero Dark Thirty" was based partly on her, and she was the subject of a Wikipedia page. Still, the C.I.A. and the White House refused to allow a pseudonym for her.

Volunteer Marek's deletions[edit]

I am willing to change the sourcing to the Gawker article that is currently only in the external links. (Cook, John (22 September 2011). "Chief of CIA's 'Global Jihad Unit' Revealed Online". Gawker.com. Retrieved 2 July 2013.) And the text can be rewritten, but the information Marek deleted should stay:

"However, after receiving threats of prosecution under the IIPA from the CIA, Duffy and Nowosielski decided to release the documentary with the names redacted.[13] They claim that their webmaster later posted an email containing the identities by accident. The identities then spread to the wider Internet.[1][20]"

That is how Bikowsky's name was found out. A very important point.

Marek didn't even read the source he claims didn't mention the second and third sentences [7]. The source quote: "It was only then that we discovered our webmaster had briefly and inadvertently placed our entire email to the CIA on our site. Edmonds saw the information and published it. Within minutes the information had spread widely through social media on the Internet."

Marek just summarized the second deletion as "more bullshit." [8] Well, the text is 100% correct. I assume that Marek doesn't like Sibel Edmonds. Fine, she is not a RS for truth claims, but the citation here is to show she publicized the names and is the conduit to widespread dissemination. Maybe the blog post should be cited rather than the podcast, or just use Gawker again, but then suggest that change. Don't delete the text.

Again, Marek didn't read the source for his third deletion. [9] The very first thing on the page says: "Two names have been censored after threats of federal prosecution by CIA in an unprecedented use of the Intelligence Identities Protection Act. Where censorship occurs, the names are listed in brackets []."

Discussion[edit]

Sources 1 (Gawker), 3 (Washington Post), and 4 (Cryptocomb) are reliable, but none of them identify the woman in the photo as Bikowsky. Source 2, 5, and 6 are not reliable sources. - Mnnlaxer | talk | stalk 23:31, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You must have read the first sentence in the Corbet Report link: "UPDATE (Sep. 22nd): It has now been confirmed that the name of the “Frances” referred to in this article is not Audrey Tomason, as originally speculated, but Alfreda Frances Bikowsky." Plus I translated the French article, which says: "According to some rare media, it would be also that we can see on the famous picture of the Situation Room, in the background on the right, around Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, during the death of the former enemy number 1 Americans, presented by the Obama administration as Audrey F. Tomason, director of counterterrorism in the US National Security Council. There is no evidence today that this is the same person (1)." The "rare media" it refers to is not the Daily Mail (itself not very reliable), but "An internet blogger called Thus Blogged Anderson". Rather than links to articles, why don't you quote a Wikipedia:Verifiability#Reliable sources that claims the picture is of Bikowsky. - Mnnlaxer | talk | stalk 02:30, 30 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Bias Tag[edit]

I entered a bias tag as a number of negative statements and assertions purporting to be facts are not documented at all and have no legitimate sourcing. Many of the entries sound similar to, quite frankly, the amateurishly ranting entries of someone who had seen Zero Dark Thirty too many times and not liked Jessica Chastain's character or perhaps opposed President Bush's (and to be fair President Obama's) priorities and tactics and strategic thinking in the war on terror. Please DO NOT REMOVE THE TAG until all of the sourcing and documentation issues have been fairly and openly discussed and resolved. The Moody Blue (Talk) 03:17, 21 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
