Age[edit]

Every source mentions 24 as the age. Only one source mentions 25 as the approximate age as stated by a witness soon after the shooting, but corrects itself later on. Until someone finds a reliable source stating his exact birthday, keep it 24. ChaosR (talk) 17:28, 11 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Shootings[edit]

Perhaps that's true in your native language of Dutch. In English, the prevailing convention is to refer to an assailant's uninterrupted act of shooting people as a single event termed "a shooting."
For an example currently in the news, see Rio de Janeiro school shooting. Another recent example is the 2011 Tucson shooting. —David Levy 02:48, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In the UK it seems to be shootings, e.g. Cumbria shootings. So maybe it's a difference between British English and American English. In The Netherlands we generally follow British English. SpeakFree (talk) 03:23, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm familiar with hearing it as "shootings". Though on Google it looks like "Columbine shooting" is about 1.6 times more popular. To me I'd only think of it as a singular shooting if all the shots hit one person. Wnt (talk) 04:34, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As I stated above, the use of "shooting" is the prevailing (albeit not universal) convention, which is why past discussions have resulted in consensus for its use at Wikipedia (with editors noting that "shootings" implies precisely the sort of situation described by "Cumbria shootings": a series of separate attacks). —David Levy 04:51, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Van der Vlis's age[edit]

Concerning Van der Vlis; could we use one age, please? Either 24 or 25, but not both in the same article, as was the case. I've changed the 24 in 25, as Van der Vlis is supposed to be born on 8 April, 1986.
