About Rabinal[edit]

Rabinal is located in Baja Verapaz, not Alta Verapaz.

"...conquered through the sword, but through cross..." The 'conquest' was a process that took decades and centuries with the troops that defeated the native empires in the initial stages consisting mostly other native nations. Old World diseases then wiped out a large portion of the indigenous population, including european allies, which allowed Westernized biracials ( who have outnumbered those of pure european ancestry from early on) to thrive and prosper at the expense of the original inhabitants, gradually gaining the ascendancy in that period. As a result Westernized mestizos went on to comprise the majority of the 'conquerors' in the subsequent years, so assimilation it's a more accurate description of what took place. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.253.57.73 (talk) 02:10, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
