Bullshit article[edit]

Wow, this is really a misguided article. The term "America's Forgotten War" has never referred to a specific war, so why bother making a list? The term is used by writers for emphasis as a way of saying that the subject they are writing about has fallen out of general consciousness. Most of the time, such writers are referring to the War on Drugs or the War on Poverty. Other choices include:

  • America's Forgotten War Against the Central Banks by Mike Hewitt
  • War in Afghanistan (2001–present)
  • America's forgotten war: LDS raiders kept Army at bay in 1857-58. Deseret Morning News/July 9, 2006. By Lee Davidson
  • Racial integration

...etc. If a specific war had to be chosen as the one most often called 'forgotten' in America, it would be the Korean war. Binksternet (talk) 14:45, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not an article, but a rhetorical device[edit]

I'm British and I know all of these wars; how forgotten can they be? I agree with the above statement; surely "America' forgotten war" is just a rhetorical device for anything the author thinks unduly neglected?
