Who started very first event?[edit]

It’s my understanding that Ron Erickson and M.D. Hundley were the two main guys that thought up and got Del Webb to back the event. Ron and Monty were working together running the Sahara-Tahoe at the time they thought this event would be a main attraction for years to come. The first event was at Edgewood Country Club in 1970. They called the event The Del E. Webb Amateur Classic. It is now known as the American Century. Can anyone confirm or deny? Error[edit]

There is an error here, which I don't really feel like investigating but if someone else wants to find the truth and edit it, here you go: "Actor Wagner is the only non-professional athlete to have won the event" followed by "12 from football have won...2 from acting". That cannot be true. It's worded as if two actors have won but right before that says only one has. So either the wording is wrong and it means two times an actor has won, not two actors, or it's incorrect that only one actor has won. JaHolo (talk) 02:19, 17 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Tone of the Highlights Subsection[edit]

The tone of the "Tournament Highlights" section in the article seems very non-Encyclopedic.

Not sure what the most appropriate banner is to add, but leaving a note here in case someone who's kept up with editing agrees and knows. JulianBerman (talk) 12:50, 17 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
