Middle Name[edit]

"Yungo" is Andres Torres' nickname, not his middle name. Also, in his e-mail address he spells it with a Y, and not a V, so we should go with his preferred spelling. The confusion about this is mentioned in a (no longer available) piece entitled "Andres Torres shines with Giants" where it says, "There is one bit of misinformation that Torres wants to clear up, though. The Giants media guide lists his middle name as Vungo. 'No, it's Yungo,' Torres said. 'And it's not really my name. I am Andres Torres Jr.' So what is Yungo? 'My other name,' he said. 'If you go to Aguada, my hometown, in Puerto Rico, and ask for Yungo, everybody will know who you want to see. It's... what do you call it? It's a nickname.'" Please stop changing it back to Vungo.Thepainguy (talk) 04:36, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am a Third Opinion Wikipedian and I removed your Third Opinion request because there was no discussion here on the talk page, which is a requirement before a Third Opinion can be given. I did find, however, the newspaper article to which you refer above (and your quotation of the article text is verbatim) and I have cited it in the article text. However, if "Vungo" is also reported in reliable sources, then it may be necessary to give both in the text or, probably better, to set out the contradiction in the footnote, but it seems to me that the quotation both establishes that neither Vungo or Yungo is his middle name and that Yungo, not Vungo, is his nickname and also provides a reasonable explanation if other reliable sources do, in fact, say something else. • Support, fails WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, the producer seems better known Nohomersryan (talk) 20:44, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support per nomination, Nohomersryan and Ortizesp. There are six men listed upon the Andrés Torres (disambiguation) page, with no indication that the retired baseball player left such an unforgettable imprint upon sport that it overshadows the combined notability of the remaining five men. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 05:38, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support the producer gets more views (625) than the baseball player (600), the cyclist also has 5 and the boxer 1[[1]]. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:18, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
