Hi I'm an online ambassador for your WMST 250: Women, Art, and Culture (2014 Q3) class and have just stopped by to provide a quick review and add what I hope will be helpful comments.

You've got a really good start to a very interesting article for you. You do an especially good job of providing specific information about her life without going into a lot of detail. It's nice that you have family and personal life background - and detail about her career, list of works, etc. The article is well-organized within sections and is well-written. All of the content is cited.

Some suggestions are:

Update some of the citation information to be clearer about the publisher, link if you've taken the information from the web, etc. I'll take one on as an example.
The format for works of two languages is Foreign language title (English language title), so I started off some edits to the list, putting the year behind the titles.
You may want to mention that she was also known as / wrote under the name of Catharina Irma Dessaur.
I don't know if you've looked for public domain images of Burnier, but if you want, you could use a simple cover of one of her books, like this under PD-simple.

Rewrite rewritten, with lots of cn-tags[edit]

A rewrite by editor Chanave (User talk:Chanave) on 18 December 2017 looks to me like it was a translation from the corresponding Dutch article. It left the article filled with numbers like "[4]" or "[7]" and stripped of most of its references. I have tried to rescue the references, and to change some of the Dunglish used. But after having done that I am not sure if it is an overall improvement to the article. If another editor feels the need to revert it all, I wouldn't object. I do feel that some of the additions might be valuable, so the input of an editor who knows more about Burnier would be most welcome. Furthermore, I wonder about the translation of the titles of the books by Burnier: were all these books translated into English? If so, who was the translator and when was the translation published? If the books were not translated, the titles are probably translated by an editor and the article should reflect that, I feel. Mark in wiki (talk) 12:25, 19 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Using he/him pronouns[edit]

he is self admitted to be a transgender man, I think it's wierd to still use she/her pronouns for him while other trans men are gendered correctly. Jaxthesubhuman (talk) 17:49, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Burnier has thought and written about gender from a very young age, but I don't think she was ever referred to with other pronouns than 'she/her' and I don't think she publicly announced a different preferred gender pronoun. Laurier (talk) 09:06, 6 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
