Works: The Green Little Shamrock of Ireland[edit]

As a newbie I am reluctant to mess with the page itself, but I have some background info that another editor could use to improve it. The attribution of The Green Little Shamrock of Ireland has been removed from the page. However, Andrew Cherry must be the "Mr. Cherry" named on the earliest version of the score I have seen. [1] The date of this score can be attributed to 1787-1789 on the basis that the printer's byline suggests a date of 1778-1789 (see [2] ), and because Mrs. Mountain did not marry until 1787 [3]. This score also suggests that "The Travellers at Spa" was first performed in London around the above date. This pre-dates the 1806 date in the article. Other evidence that Andrew Cherry was linked to the piece is that he made an address when it played in Dublin in 1806. See Theatre in Dublin, 1745-1820: A Calendar of Performances, Volume 5, By John C. Greene, p.3529 [4] Furthermore, he is listed as the author in Macmillan Dictionary of Irish Literature, By Robert Hogan p.154 [5] Note: later versions of the lyrics to this song are attributed to John William Cherry, who may be a descendant, or possibly, his father.--Oleoson (talk) 19:03, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
