List of Artistes[edit]

I removed the list of artistes who had appeared on his various shows, as it was both long, meandering and resultantly - unencyclopedic. Where could it all end, it was boundary less. Rgds, - Trident13 (talk) 12:59, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm new to this whole game so sorry if I don't follow the protocol. Anyhow - is thre a reason why the section on his private life is longer than his biography section? In terms of his importance to world music, he's up there at the top. In terms of importance to wife-beating...perhaps not so. Are exhaustive details of every court case really necessary, or interesting? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.178.46.64 (talk) 08:03, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Details of every court case"? Who wants that? By any standards his personal life has been tragic. But he is going through what many fathers have to go through after a separation or divorce. He is a highly talented influence on world music and those who find themselves in his position may find motivation and inspiration from Kershaw. Fletcherbrian (talk) 03:11, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Biography[edit]

Updated sentence concerning about current radio presenting activity to include announcement in an article on the Independant website about a return to Radio 3.Treagle (talk) 11:23, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Categories[edit]

This article includes the categories 'Category:British prisoners and detainees and Category:Prisoners and detainees of the United Kingdom'. Are these within wikipedia guidelines? The Isle of Man is not actually part of the UK, and I'm not sure what definition we use for 'British'. If it comes to that, does 'British prisoners and detainees' refer to prisoners and detainees who are British (which would cover Kershaw), or prisoners and detainees in Britain? Thanks Grblundell (talk) 08:26, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, should it include people who are no longer in prison? MFlet1 (talk) 21:16, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Lol - it is not part of the UK, but we are responsible for their defence as well as it being part of the British Isles ("The island is not part of the United Kingdom, but as one of the British Islands foreign relations, defence, and ultimate good-governance of the Isle of Man are the responsibility of the government of the United Kingdom."

Haiti 2010[edit]

He's just done a piece for, I think, The Independent about the relief efforts there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.86.87.244 (talk) 13:32, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Puff.[edit]

This is, especially in the light of the forthcoming autobiography, a puff. Needs watching hard. pablo 21:06, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fair comment re puff, but where does the line between inadvertently plugging a book end, and providing more information on a Wiki page start? (Rather than the current list of Broadcasting activities - not very edifying)

I'm going to post a tweaked Broadcasting section now, in deference to your Puff fearsChambiwiki (talk) 22:00, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My concerns are that autobiographies are likely to have an unreliable narrator and also that not too much reliance should be placed on a single source. pablo 13:58, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Parts of this seem to be anecdotes lifted from his autobography: eg. his party-trick as a child and his watching the space-walk on tv. Not of particular relevance to his subsequent life. Could be re-written in a more encyclopedic manner ie. sticking to the facts of his life and career. Twizzlemas (talk) 10:22, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

And the name-checking of Led Zeppelin, The Who, Pink Floyd & The Rolling Stones looks like arbitrary aggrandisement as at the time they played at Leeds, Kershaw was 11! He wouldn't be there for another 10 years! Twizzlemas (talk) 10:29, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Great Journeys[edit]

He did an episode of the BBC TV series Great Journeys in which he and Billy Bragg travelled the Silver Route from Potosi, Bolivia to the Chilean coast. I can't remember the year and some idiot accidentally recorded of the copy I'd saved off the telly, but I think it was early 90s. Anyone? Mr Larrington (talk) 14:49, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Private Life[edit]

There's no mention of Kershaw's court appearances in connection with his family: Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page).http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-499541/Disgraced-DJ-Andy-Kershaw-court-breaching-restraining-order-second-time.html

Yes there is. See the "personal life" section at the end of the article. Fletcherbrian (talk) 02:56, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
