Potential Changes[edit]

This article reads too much like a stat sheet. Propose to consolidate historical time line (anime Usa 2005, 2006, 2007) into one cohesive section that addresses attendance, location, increase in size, and guests. Select notable guests and bands (Greg Aryes, m.o.v.e, Kristen Sa, etc) should be included, but not a laundry list of ever guest ever in the history of the convention.AtaruMoroboshi 15:08, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've cited a washington post article that claims the inception of Anime USA was 1994. Previously the first held date in the article was 1999. I could not confirm this date.

Need help including early history information. Who were the founding members. Are they still involved in the organization of Anime USA?AtaruMoroboshi 15:08, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed unsourced information stating the first Anime USA was 1998. It has been previously listed as 1994 (sourced), and before that 1999 (unsourced). Reference in article (from Washington post) put original year at 1994. Please do not change the original date year or attendance until it can be properly sourced. Until new sourced information, and consensus is reached - it is suggested to keep the date as 1994, as the Washington post article references that date. I also recall the Japanese Band m.o.ve (performed Anime USA 2005) had a posting on their blog (in Japanese) which chronicled their stay and performance in the U.S.

The performer Kristen Sa, may also have such postings.

Has anyone listened to the Balticon podcast (http://balticonpodcast.org/wordpress/?p=114) which features two individuals, Thomas Stidman (Runs Dealers Room) and Mark Pope (Con Chair)

Remove unsourced statement[edit]

Removed: In 2006, Anime USA announced that they caught a thief who was trying to bring stolen projectors into the dealer's room in 2006 and when Fairfax County police raided his car, they found a lot more electronics packed into his car. They said that the person was turned over to the police and that the police will be searching his house. This announcement had many people clapping and many seemed surprised.[citation needed]

There was theft of multiple items at this Anime USA but I do not believe this information to be entire accurate, therefore I am removing it from the article until it can be properly sourced. AtaruMoroboshi (talk) 21:18, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anime USA Start Date and Dubious Tag[edit]

In your edit summary here you stated "Source is a Wastiongton [sic] Post article already referenced when figure is cited in text." I'm aware article source states 1994, I even spoke to it on the talk page- however the issues was that I'm constantly seeing edits which change the inception date. Most recently today [2] you can see an editor claiming the 1994 date was a printed mistake. I have not removed any sources or information - I tagged the date Wikipedia:Disputed_statement since that's what it is. Disputed. Currently Animecons lists the first date in 1999 [3] Please provide compelling reasoning as to why this tag should not be placed back in the article until resolution. I've updated all dates referencing 1994 to 1999. It appears the date given in the Washington Post Article was erroneous. Per the homepage of the convention (http://animeusa.org) the following is printed "In 1999 AnimeUSA began as a northern Virginia convention, started by fans" I believe the primary source of the convention itself is more than sufficient to support the claim of a 1999 start date.
