Nationality[edit]

I realise immediately this is a touchy subject but as a matter of clear fact there is no Scottish nationality in law. Scotland may be a separate country but people born in Scotland have United Kingdom citizenship and not Scottish citizenship. Unless/until Scotland becomes independent, or she is naturalised as a citizen of another country for some reason, Annabelle Ewing has British nationality and not Scottish nationality. It may be better not to mention this in the infobox at all. Sam Blacketer (talk) 18:03, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Any SNP politician should normally be referred to as Scottish per WP:UKNATIONALS. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 18:15, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That's about what to call them in the lede section, not about their legal nationality. The two things are quite different: see Stateless nation. Sam Blacketer (talk) 18:21, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
