Genetic Chin[edit]

How about something on his acromegaly genetic issue? It's mentioned here: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1356869-ufc-on-fx-5-questions-we-have-about-antonio-silva more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acromegaly — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.254.45.60 (talk) 19:33, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled[edit]

i dont have any sources but i thought bigfoot was his most common nickname.

At Fedor vs Rogers, he was marqueed as Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva Senor Vergara (talk) 18:43, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suspension[edit]

There's a lot more to that story, if someone can find the details. What I've heard is that he contested it as a false positive, due to his condition and/or medication, and there seems to be evidence to support that contention. Senor Vergara (talk) 18:43, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

upcomming fights[edit]

Are upcomming fights no longer in the record? Have noticed that a lot. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.202.143.131 (talk) 11:45, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

upset over overeem[edit]

"Silva won the fight via vicious KO at just 25 seconds of round three, earning a huge upset victory." who exactly said this was a huge upset victory? the retarded media? it wasnt much of an upset at all. any big mma fan knows it was hardly an upset and the 2 were actually pretty well matched. of coarse bigfoot had the better night this time but was still a pretty even match up. bigfoot just had a bad loss to valasques. i dont know why everyone thought this made him automatically sub par, it was just 1 bad fight not counting his early career. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.188.200.62 (talk) 07:06, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

While I agree with what you said (it wasn't a surprise to me he KO'd Overeem), the "huge upset" line comes more from the betting lines where Overeeem was considered a heavy favorite. Udar55 (talk) 19:56, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
While they had plans if Overeem would've won, they now don't have a clue what to do with Silva with his victory. But yes, the betting lines decided that he was the heavy underdog coming to this fight. Not as huge as Pierre and Serra, which is notable. I would suggest instead to mention it on the PPV itself that many(?) of the main card underdogs won and created a new title-contender landscape. Mazter00 (talk) 20:02, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The no contest/draw thing.[edit]

It's gone on long enough. UFC and Sherdog both list a draw with a Hunt in their result tables. UFC contradicts itself by counting it as 19-7-0 (1 NC). This MMAFighting piece claims the official record will change, but it hasn't. As of yesterday, they note "Hunt and Silva fought to a bloody five-round draw in Dec. 2013" and give Silva's record as 19-7-1.

Even if we wanted to say UFC's 19-7-0 (1 NC) is good enough for our infobox, nothing backs changing our result table. So we're stuck either following Sherdog (or FOX Sports) or contradicting ourselves like UFC does. Since we're trying to teach people, we shouldn't contradict ourselves.

Sources aside, there's just no logic in one man in a two-man game having a draw. A draw inherently needs an equal score, and a "no contest" means the entire contest doesn't count, not half of it. InedibleHulk (talk) 00:09, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This press release also refers to the match as "their 2013 ‘Fight of the Year’ draw". Not Hunt's draw. Their draw. InedibleHulk (talk) 20:43, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It's as wrong in 2017 as it was in 2015. Wikipedia's going to be wrong forever if people continue to insist on it. It may become an accepted fact, but it'll still be wrong. I'm done reverting, and just about done complaining, but before I walk away and let this stay wrong, I'd like to reiterate the wrongness of it all. So, in closing, it's all wrong! Hunt vs. Silva TKO/KO[edit]

Apologies for my recent reverts. I had incorrectly assumed that those edits were made to Silva's recent fight with Roy Nelson. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TBMNY (talkcontribs) 03:24, 27 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Error on his records[edit]

Silva's recent kickboxing fight in Azerbaijan has been added to his MMA record, and his boxing match against Viacheslav Datsik is on his barekukcle boxing record despite it being a gloved boxing fight. Surely these things need to be reversed? 2A00:23C7:CA82:6B01:9094:38E9:715A:22A7 (talk) 15:17, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
