Recent edits I reversed[edit]

I changed back this: An unexploded bomb may or may not detonate if it is lifted or overturned but, in contrast, an anti-tank mine with an anti-handling device fitted is absolutely guaranteed to detonate if it is lifted/overturned, because it is specifically designed to react in that way.

to this: An unexploded bomb may or may not detonate if it is lifted or overturned but, in contrast, an anti-tank mine with an anti-handling device fitted will detonate if it is lifted/overturned, because it is specifically designed to do so.

The use of the language "absolutely guaranteed" is verbose but, more importantly, is incorrect: Because some mines' anti-handling devices may fail, we cannot say that it is "absolutely guaranteed." (And, "guarantee" would be good enough with "absolutely," anyway.) To put it briefly: Don't be so verbose.

On "react in that way," again, it's needlessly verbose. We just explained what will happen, so "do so" is all that's needed.

Also, regarding the semi-colon/colon "undo" you did: Yes, the letter following a semi-colon is lower-case. You failed to notice that the edit you made was to a colon, not a semi-colon. Jeff Muscato (talk) 10:09, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested merge[edit]

Booby trap:

  • Watchers - 53
  • Page views - 12760

Anti-handling device:

  • Watchers - Less than 30
  • Page views - 1726

Based on page views, Booby trap is nearly 9 times as popular as anti-handling device.

Plus:

  • Booby trap is a more common term for the layman
  • Booby trap article is more developed than anti-handling deveice, which if anything is a bit over-technical and militaristic.
