Romanizatio of づ[edit]

In Kunrei-shiki, the official romanization system, du is written zu. See: http://www.wordiq.com/definition/Kunrei-shiki Kunrei-shiki is the official romanization system, though the Hepburn system is the de facto system used outside of Japan.

Kunrei-shiki is based on the older Nihon-shiki (Nipponsiki) system, modified for modern standard Japanese. For example, the word かなづかい, romanized kanadukai in Nihon-shiki, is pronounced kanazukai in modern Japanese, and Kunrei-shiki uses the latter spelling.

The Hepburn system, though not the official system, is more widely used. http://www.wordiq.com/definition/Hepburn Both Kunrei-shiki and the Hepburn system use zu to romanize づ. Greenw47 18:35, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
