Who owns Arianespace?[edit]

How much of Arinespace is owned by governmental entities and how much by commercial companies or individual stockholders? I assume that European capital markets are fairly transparent so there must be a way to find out. I think the article should reflect this. Anyone have a source? Thanks Sdsds! That is a very helpful link. I don't understand the setup of corporations on the continent well enough to know whether each of the "companies" in this list are 100% privately owned, or whether the governments have some ownership or effective control over the various enterprises listed. The dirigiste nature of the mixed economy, particularly in France, leaves the question open.

So it appears that in order to learn the answer, one would have to study the extent to which continental economies today continue on the path of the late twentieth century. A starting point, of course, would be to look whether there is any explicit ownership of C.N.E.S., Astrium SAS and Safran, three French companies together make up 58% of the ownership of Arianespace. It appears that CNES is explicitly government, just as NASA is 100% government in the US. After getting the ownership clear, we would still have to figure out what role the government has in so-called "strong directive influence" over the firms that are "privately" owned. incorrect table entries[edit]

The table now has two entries for Spain. Both of the entries under the second Spain row are NOT in Spain, located in Britain and Switzerland. I do not know how, neither do I have the time now to change these. SalineBrain (talk) 04:57, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Awful template wording[edit]

Currently, there is this template in use here: {{Launching/Ariane}} First of all, I changed it from LSP to Launch service provider – nobody knows what a LSP is and the article does not make it clear either.

Secondly, the wording of the template, as it is used here, is awful:

"This article contains information regarding an Launch service provider that may imminently be scheduled to conduct a launch"

The LSP is not "scheduled" (by some unknown third party) to conduct a launch, the LSP is the party actively scheduling the conduction of said launch. As I see it, this template is not designed to be used in such a manner. Either the template should be changed (something that is beyond my capabilites) or the template should be removed from this article (something I could do).

And lest I forget: The article contains no information about the launch, only about the LSP. So the template promises more than the article can deliver. Tony Mach (talk) 15:19, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Many things are wrong about this template, and its current use in this article. Suggest edits to fix by interested editors, and possible deletion of the template if it is used badly in many places. N2e (talk) 22:35, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
