Title of the Article[edit]

I moved the article from "Armidale Dumaresq Shire" to "Armidale Dumaresq Council" as this is the name of the LGA as proclaimed by the Governor of NSW in 2000 following the merger of Armidale City Council with Dumaresq Shire Council. Calling the LGA a 'shire' makes no more sense than calling it a 'city' or a 'municipality' as neither the Council nor the NSW Government refers to Armidale Dumaresq as a shire anymore.

Bidgee has moved it back to "shire".

I would compromise and agree to calling the article "Armidale Dumaresq". Anglicant (talk) 13:43, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A shire can include a city. The council is just the governing body (well NSW Government has more power then the council itself) of the LGA. Please do not move it again unless you get a consensus via the talk page. Bidgee (talk) 14:05, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bidgee: Re "A shire can include a city" - is this an opinion or an official policy? Anglicant (talk) 14:14, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that the title of this article should be changed. Since its creation the local government area in question has never been known as a shire, officially or unofficially; therefore the current title is misleading. 121.45.71.125 (talk) 13:01, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
