Hi - why was the long time Coa replaced? --Maxxl2 (talk) 09:17, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
- I just thought that a more simple version would look better. But if you guys want to use the past version, it's fine for me - John Ronn talk 14:50, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
AWB[edit]
Dear GhostInTheMachine. Thank you for your attention to the page Arthur Richard Dillon. I see you have about double the edit count that I have and lots of experience. However, one of your changes is not a good one. You "corrected" the date format in a footquote: |ps=: "James, Kt. of Malta, Col. of the Dillon Regt. fell at its head at Fontenoy, 30 April, 1745." -> "|ps=: "James, Kt. of Malta, Col. of the Dillon Regt. fell at its head at Fontenoy, 30 April 1745." Many source text use date formats that do not comply with MOS. As I understand it they should be left alone, just as we do not silently correct old-fashioned spelling. What do you think? I seems date fixing in quotes has been reported as a bug in AutoWikiBrowser years ago and will probably never be fixed. With thanks and best regards, Johannes Schade (talk) 21:31, 1 January 2022 (UTC)
- Johannes Schade Thanks for the note. I was using AWB to correct other aspects of a long list of articles, and AWB made the above change as a side-effect, so there is no problem with editing the quote back to the original format. Do you have a link for the old AWB bug report? I will give it a nudge — GhostInTheMachine talk to me 22:45, 1 January 2022 (UTC)
