Requested move 6 March 2019

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Moved first, not moved second: consensus appears to be that there is no primary topic. In order to preserve links, I have converted the base page to a disambiguation. It currently only has two entries though. (closed by non-admin page mover) SITH (talk) 21:47, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

  • Support first & oppose second for now. It's not clear that the soldier is the primary topic. The article was created a mere five months ago so I suspect there's an element of WP:RECENTISM at play. Better to create a dab page and perhaps revisit this another time. Would suggest that Asim Munir (general) is a better title for this article though. PC78 (talk) 21:54, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
    • PC78 It’s primary topic on internet news search.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.160.102.250 (talk) 08:31, 7 March 2019 (UTC)
      • That's not how primary topics are determined. PC78 (talk) 16:22, 7 March 2019 (UTC)
  • Oppose this fails Primary Topic in books. 119.160.102.250 please register for an account, hopping between different IPs and launching RMs at the same article as the last IP is not helpful. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:41, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
  • Support first, oppose second. No clear primary topic. Move the soldier to Asim Munir (general) though, which is the standard disambiguator for Pakistani generals. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:13, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 10 April 2023

Asim Munir has gotten a Nishan E Imtiaz military but it says Hilal E Imtiaz Military only. He got both awards. So you might want to change that. Add NI(M) in front of HI(M). Thanks! 202.125.144.119 (talk) 14:40, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. M.Bitton (talk) 14:49, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 28 April 2023 (more info for personal life)

Greetings, I want to add more info based on reliable sources in the Personal life section, also this section should be the first one in the article I believe.

"Asim Munir's family roots lie in Toba Tek Singh but they have been living in Rawalpindi's Dehri Hassanabad for decades now. His father was the principal of a technical school, a brother is also a teacher while his brother-in-law Air Chief Marshal Mushaf Ali Mir passed away in an air crash in 2003.[1]

Locally, the family has been known to be religious and scholarly, Asim Munir's father being a Hafiz-e-Quran, having memorized the entire Qur'an by heart, and he himself memorized the Qur'an in Rawalpindi's Madrassah Darul Tajweedul Quran, being a student of a well-known local scholar and preacher, Hafiz Khalil Ahmed.[2]"

So I believe this should replace the whole (current) Personal life section, and again I believe that this section should be the first one.

Cheers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2a02:a03f:6504:1700:c437:5308:643d:d6d3 (talk)

Not done - Please request changes in "Please change X to Y" format.--Estar8806 (talk) 02:24, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

Greetings, when I proposed this there was still a "Personal life" section but it has since been removed, so I would say you can add a "Personal life" section against with my (credible and sourced) info, and also delete the "He is also a Hafiz-e-Quran" that you find in the opening lines of the bio (as this info would be in the new "Personal life" section), thanks 2A02:A03F:6504:1700:D47E:A569:A664:5DAE (talk) 09:25, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{Edit semi-protected}} template. Personal life falls under WP:GOSSIP. It's up to each article and users involved whether to include it or not. Establish consensus instead. Callmemirela 🍁 03:48, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
Greetings, I don't understand, there was a Personal life section before, I just propose another that's more sourced/credible ? Thanks. 2A02:A03F:6504:1700:444A:24B1:EC96:4D2C (talk) 17:40, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
Not done: I retract my previous refusal. I am however declining this one based on notability. I don't see how memorizing the Qur'an is notable? – Callmemirela 🍁 18:09, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
Greetings, it fits with the overall religious background given in the new proposed Personal life section, of course you'd have to take down the "Qur'an memorization" already present in the current article at the end of the opening paragraph, where it does look odd/out of place. Thanks. 2A02:A03F:6504:1700:2532:8BA9:E6F:342 (talk) 18:07, 22 May 2023 (UTC)

Greetings, I still don't understand, I'm just asking to add more info to a section that was here before ? What's so controversial to have the personal background of such important individual in a country ? Thanks 2A02:A03F:6504:1700:7079:9555:C63E:5474 (talk) 15:31, 10 June 2023 (UTC)

This information appears to be promotional and one-sided. There are already enough details on his family, and if more information is needed, it should be encyclopaedic. DreamRimmer (talk) 06:29, 11 June 2023 (UTC)
