what is "eastern religion"[edit]

This should be more clear, "...between Christian meditation and the styles of meditation used in eastern religions such as Buddhism." as to what is meant by, "eastern religions". Is it any religion that originated in The East, such as Taoism, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc., or what? Does this letter refer specifically to all religions that originated in the East, or to non-Christian religions that occur in the east...? As of now it doesn't make sense because Christianity is practiced in The East, therefore The Catholic Church is saying that Christians should not practice meditation used in Christian religions.makeswell 05:55, 11 July 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Makeswell (talkcontribs)

can this page use these sentences?[edit]

In the 20th century, Christian methods of meditation have been distinguished from and contrasted with so-called "cosmic styles" of Eastern meditation.[1][2][3] In the 20th century, Christian methods of meditation have been distinguished from and contrasted with so-called "cosmic styles" of Eastern meditation.[4][5][6] Putting these sentences here, from the page Meditation#Catholic use of non-Christian methods, for potential future use. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Makeswell (talkcontribs) 17:00, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What is Meditation in Christianity?[edit]

This page just talks about what it isn't. Can someone say a few words on what it IS? I mean.... where are the prayer beads? What about Prayer as meditation? What is the object of meditation in the context of Christianity? Why is the picture of the monk walking significant from the viewpoint of christian Meditation? Please see Christian meditation, its history, Eastern Christianity, Western, etc. There is a link here, but obviously needs to be emphasized. That page then refers to Lectio divina, etc. History2007 (talk) 22:20, 3 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
