Howard Overman as staff writer[edit]

I'm assuming that this is referring to him writing some Merlin episodes? If so should we just remove that sentence? It has a cite tag, isn't terribly clear on what it's referring to, and if it is referring to Merlin then it isn't particularly relevant. --Bluebellanon (talk) 15:16, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Funnily enough, I just watched some atlantis, and an immediate question I asked was, was it written by the same people as wrote 'merlin', because it seemed to have the same sense of humour. Also come to think, a similar plot. Sandpiper (talk) 20:07, 9 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The trio[edit]

Perhaps I'm missing something here, but that looks like a duo to me. --oKtosiTe talk 15:34, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Number of Episodes[edit]

To the user(s) who keep resetting the number of episodes to the number currently transmitted: That is not how we use this field. If you don't believe me, check out other currently running series that are on their first transmission. PRL42 (talk) 16:39, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is a British TV series and if you look at other British TV series currently on their first transmission, e.g. Ambassadors (TV series), and Truckers (2013 TV series), you will see that the total number of episodes in the series is shown. It would be unhelpful to show the current number transmitted because TV series are shown at different times in different countries and so a field that was used in that manner would require the reader to do further research in order to know what the figure s/he was reading actually meant. PRL42 (talk) 07:42, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I know I'm a new user, but I've seen other series that use the number of episodes aired (see The Simpsons and @midnight). Admittedly, these are American shows; does that make a difference? The Simpsons have been on for 26 years, but @midnight is on its first season. If the exact meaning of the field is so ambiguous, can't we report both counts, like 13 (Total), 5 (Aired) Estaling (talk) 17:31, 29 October 2013 (UTC).[reply]
There are various problems with reporting the number of episodes aired (which you can usually determine with added detail from the episode list). Mainly, many TV series are aired on multiple channels at various times and in countries all all over the world. There is also the problem that someone may start the article, update the field for a while, then move on to other interests and leave the count 'stuck' until someone else notices (if they ever do). Then, what happens if a series is resurrected several years after its original transmission? Do you leave the counter at max or reset it and start again from 1. How is a reader supposed to know how all these things have been decided? What happens when a reader sees an episode count that an editor has set based on one channel but is watching on another that is running behind and thus thinks Wikipedia is giving him or her bad information. All these problems, some of which have no universally applicable solution, seem to suggest that an aired count is a lot more trouble than it's worth. Consider that if we added a field specifically for this purpose it would, to avoid ambiguity, have to be named something like: Aired on channel of first transmission.
As far as this articles is concerned, though, it should not buck the standard that has already been set for British TV programmes because having different metrics for the same field for one class of programme is guaranteed to confuse readers and is thus unforgivable.
BTW, you are just as entitled to voice your opinion as a new user as you are if you've been editing from day one. (Even if you don't agree with me.) PRL42 (talk) 17:53, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio[edit]

This is suffering from summaries that are pasted from the BBC site or the Radio Times. It is a real problem with British TV series when editors cannot be bothered to rewrite or actually watch the episode. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.26.76.180 (talk) 19:49, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

character list article?[edit]

Is ther any chance of there being an article of the characters of Atlantis? After all, Merlin, the show's precursor, has one of its own, right? All in favour say 'I' Visokor (talk) 15:22, 22 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

title card query[edit]

Is anyone able to do a screenshot of the title card WITH the city of Atlantis in the background (which itself is similar to the titles of Merlin), plz? Visokor (talk) 15:36, 14 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have it in reserve. What is the consensus?REVUpminster (talk) 15:40, 14 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
as I said, Merlin has one. And Atlantis is partly by two of the co-creators of Merlin, rite? Visokor (talk) 17:04, 14 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Change to lead - "mainly" versus "including"[edit]

The lead said that the show was inspired by Greek mythology, "mainly" the legend of Atlantis. I've changed "mainly" to be "including", since - apart from the title - we haven't really seen *any* of the Atlantis story in this show. Other Ancient Greek stories have provided many more of the show's plots and characters. Feel free to revert with source.

I also changed "theory of Atlantis" to "legend of Atlantis" - purely to avoid a word which, for some people at least, is suggestive of scientific rigour. Better to use an unambiguous word, I felt? Señor Service (talk) 18:57, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Cast list[edit]

This has to be changed as the show has not been renewed, it is pointless to have recurring and former sections. REVUpminster (talk) 20:39, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

series overview[edit]

Can I propose an overhaul of the series overview? Alter all, both series need to be covered in it. Visokor (talk) 12:58, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

what happens next?[edit]

with its cancellation, where does Atlantis go from the end of series 2? Are they just going to leave it like that? Atlantis taken over and brought to its knees, I mean. Visokor (talk) 21:18, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
