Requested move 3 September 2018[edit]

The result of the move request was: moved all per discussion below. The Karma pages can be dealt with in a separate RM. (page mover nac) The editor whose username is Z0 07:15, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

– This is a test balloon to see if there is widespread support for moving all non-compliant articles to be compliant with Wikipedia:Naming conventions (video games), which stipulates that "For video game players, use either (gamer) or (video game player)". If this achieves consensus, there are about 60 other articles that would also need to be moved (most of which are other DotA or League of Legends players with ([name of game] player) as the disambig in use.   • support I was thinking about this recently, and it suprised me that these were all like this. Personally, I prefer "professional gamer", as the identifier, as the words "gamer" and "video game player" don't really get across that these people do this for a living, and are notable for actually playing games.     • I like your idea. Its more precise and more concise. It also seems more common — "professional gamer" yields ~10k Google News results (36k for "pro gamer") and "video gamer player" ~7k ("pro player" ~45k, but it includes players of other sports). — bieχχ (talk) 14:42, 4 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • No other sport disambiguation uses "professional <sport>" so why would this be treated any differently? Also, that option is not part of the NC guideline - don't fix one unsupported style with another unsupported style. --Gonnym (talk) 11:59, 6 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
