Goalkeeper coach[edit]

Goalkeeper coach Fernando Vaz Alves has moved on (to Wellington Phoenix), as per this reference, which is likely to be shortly removed from the main article. Matilda Maniac (talk) 08:35, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Matilda Maniac: Sorry, that was my mistake. I remembered Vaz Alves recently joining a team as GK coach, but mistakenly thought it was Joeys, not Wellington Phoenix (when it was in fact the other way round). --SuperJew (talk) 08:47, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Whereas WP:SECONDARY sources - which have objective analysis and removed from an original event ( as opposed to a WP:PRIMARY source), when a media outlet quotes directly from another's press release, such as in this case SBS is just quoting - and mainly verbatim - the original article; so this reference fails in being an independent view of this event. As a news information service, SBS are just rehashing an 'official' source to their own audience. Use of a copy/paste function does not create an independent source. Matilda Maniac (talk) 08:50, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Matilda Maniac: I still think the mere fact that the non-primary source publishes it means they endorse it and it makes it more removed from the primary source and thus less chance to be promotional or have vested interest (as per WP:IS).
Again, there was no revert here, just a change in content, which I thought more correctly aligns with Wikipedia. You are actually the one using reverts to push your point, and also inadvertently reverting things which you were not your intention. That being said I don't have the energy to start an edit-war with you over the Joeys' page about which site is a more reliable source. I gave you my opinion, and willing to continue in a civilized discussion, but if you're going to be bullish about it, I have better things to do with my time. --SuperJew (talk) 09:12, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Never been in an edit war before. Is it fun ? are there guidelines ? Matilda Maniac (talk) 12:02, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No, it is me that is backing down, and not bothering with someone who reverts and adds minor additional content at the same time to 'prove' that it is not a revert I understand that you need to be careful with respect to 3RR, so good gaming.. And all seemingly as payback because you were reverted on another site from one of my edits. Well, i think ive reverted your edits a few times, but you are well ahead, and happy for you to be able to say that you have won. Alors, viva Superjewipedia!
