Weird Rendering[edit]

When I view this page in Firefox, all the little "edit" markers (for edit section) are clumped together. When I view it in IE they are fine. Why?

Messed-up gramar[edit]

"In 1033, when Conrad II fell heir to the Kingdom of Arelat, Avignon passed to the empire. The German rulers, however, being at a distance, Avignon took advantage of their absence..."

This is so wacky I'm not even sure how to correct it (knowing nothing, as I do, about the history of Avignon). -Carl

Disambiguation link repair: Geographic help needed![edit]

There is an ambiguous link to "Valence". Valence can mean many things; it can mean three different communities in France. In this section: "Ecclesiastical history of the (Arch)diocese", under the heading "(Arch)bishopric", near the end of the 2nd paragraph, is the link to "Valence". Thirteenth-century status of Avignon[edit]

Is the current version of Avignon's history correct? I believe the history given under Comtat Venaissin is more accurate. --Wetman 04:52, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Geographical Coordinates in Sitenotice[edit]

The geographic cordinates in the upper right of the article were obviously put there before the new sitenotices, and it now interferes with/is a part of the sitenotice. I could change this, and I do know how to, but should I? Thanks, Ajraddatz (talk | contribs) 20:36, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion[edit]

Translators notes[edit]

I have translated what I believe to be the best of the French language version. I have stopped at this point because the article is now very large and I think further expansion would not be justified. I have included most historical and heritage material but have omitted much of the modern political material (although I included the list of Mayors). I also did not do the large section in the French version of Avignon in Literature. I have deleted the requiring translation flag and also the requires references tag as I think the French material has more references. Nevertheless if it is thought that more could be added or more references are needed then a reviewer may want to reinstate them. Samrong01 (talk) 11:56, 21 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Uh.. Nothing about Avignon after 1303?[edit]

I feel as though the section regarding Avignon in the late middle ages is missing some information.

Looking at Shepard's Historical Atlas, Ninth Edition (by William R. Shepard), I can find a map of Europe in 1490(page 104d) that illustrates Avignon as an independent state.
