Rise Hill[edit]

Although the western part of the hill is also known as Longstone Fell, it is not just the eastern part that is called Rise Hill. I would suggest that it is Rise Hill that should be described as the Marilyn. (evidence: [1] ; [2]) Does anyone have a copy of Alan Dawson's book? I suppose if he lists Aye Gill Pike, then we perhaps ought accept his judgement as an authority on Marilyns for now (pending revision). It was only from about 1900 that the OS started labelling separate parts of Rise Hill (Longstone Fell, Aygill Pike, Snaizewold Fell). The Settle–Carlisle Railway tunnel is known as the Rise Hill Tunnel. Dbfirs 19:05, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
