Age is recorded as 82, not 77 in NYT[edit]

The 18 Nov. 2017 NY Times states the following "Azzedine Alaïa was born in Tunis, Tunisia, on Feb. 26, 1935 (though some biographical sources list his birth year as 1939 or 1940)."

The entry says he was born in 1940 and cites Azzedine Alaïa, le Prince des lignes as a source, which upon further examination looks somewhat dubious, not legitimate as a source.

Plus, the timeline doesn't work for a 1940's birth, even if he lied about his age to enter school. For example the article claims Alaïa moved to Paris in 1957 and at some later time began to work for Christian Dior, but had to stop when the Algerian War broke out. However, the Algerian War broke out in 1954 not 1957, making Dior 14 years old, graduating from school, taking private clients, and working for Christian Dior... It doesn't add up.

I will leave this here and welcome discussion, but if nobody obects in 5 days, I will revise the article to be more factual. [1] Probablynoteworthy (talk) 07:01, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New References template[edit]

Since 2017 different editors have provided more significant information and also references to different news and reports that match what the texts say. So I withdraw the template requesting new verifiable references. --Miskito89 (talk) 16:00, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
