Community[edit]

There is such a thing as the Baglan Bay community. If you go to OS election maps site, search by the local authority of Neath Port Talbot, then activate the parish layers and scroll the map to the Baglan Bay area, you can clearly see the Baglan Bay community. The original version was correct and linked to the correct community page. In Wales, the term Community is more commonly used as the equivalent of a Civil Parish in England.

The confusion might have arisen as the wording can be taken to mean the community in its more common usage. Perhaps it might be better to word it like local government community. Weisinger (talk) 17:35, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Point taken, but I still think the majority of people will take the term "Community" to refer to a collection of people, ie the common usage community. Using the lesser known equivalent to English civil parish merely serves to confuse the reader. Far better in this instance to use Region or Area. If there is a need to refer to the lesser known Community then it's use will need to be explained. Canol (talk) 00:37, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Point taken too. I think it is informative to mention the community in the local government sense. I'll have a go at re-wording it slightly to explain its usage. Weisinger (talk) 10:43, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that, all seems OK now. Interesting to read your link to the OS election maps. Maybe someone should pitch a tent on Baglan Bay and declare him/herself leader of the Baglan Bay community council. Canol (talk) 19:54, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is Baglan Bay really unpopulated[edit]

in the sense of having no permanent residents? As opposed to a transient population who come to the community to work, but don't live there? I read somewhere, but can't immediately remember where, that it is. If so, is it the only unpopulated Community in Wales? KJP1 (talk) 15:51, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
