Station[edit]

"The site of the former railway halt of Ballachulish Ferry, the penultimate stop on the line before the Laroch quarries, was next to Ballachulish House, some half mile inland from the ferry."

Ballachulish Ferry station was about half a mile from Ballachulish House and lies alongside the present A82. The platform is still there. --jmb 12:31, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Translation of Chaolais[edit]

Baile a' Chaolais seems be being variously translated across Wikipedia, twice differently within this article:

- Article intro: Straits town
- Overview: the Village by the Narrows
- [[Loch Leven (Highlands)|Loch Leven] article: the settlement on the narrows

And

- on [Ulva] article: Eilean a' Chaolais ("island of the kyle/straits")
- on Beinn a' Chaolais article: Beinn a' Chaolais (Gaelic : mountain of the sound)

Although Narrows may be the more literal term, I reckon strait is a more accurate (and widely understood) translation. And translating Baile to settlement seems reasonable (thus not needing to worry about the Town/Village distinction).
