Proposed move[edit]

As it stands, almost all of this article (Welsh Mountain (sheep)) refers only to the Balwen type. I suggest that it is renamed Balwen Welsh Mountain Sheep, and that a new article is created for Welsh Mountain Sheep as a whole (or named as currently, though not quite sure why "sheep" should be in brackets). The renamed article would need a slightly edited first para, and would of course link to the general article. For the moment the general article could be a disambiguation one linking to the Balwen and the other types as they are written, but there would be room in future for a "proper" general article about Welsh Mountain Sheep overall (including perhaps origin, extinct types and derivative breeds as well as brief summaries of the extant types with "main article" tags).

An alternative approach would be to make the existing article more general, with sections for each type (including the Balwen) within it. However, I suspect that this would soon become unwieldy and confusing as material was added for different types.

This tag was here since the 24th of October and no action has been taken. Thus, I removed the request tag. VanTucky Talk 07:13, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have rewritten the article to make it apply to the Balwen alone, renamed it to Balwen Welsh Mountain sheep and created a new (very brief) article, Welsh Mountain sheep, with various redirects to both.--Richard New Forest 23:55, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
