I'm not seeing any other articles that use this convention in their titles? It looks rather promotional as does your user name.Theroadislong (talk) 17:03, 4 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Banting HouseBanting House National Historic Site of Canada – This is the recognized and professional name of the museum, see http://bantinghousenhsc.wordpress.com/ BantingHouseNHSC (talk) 16:45, 4 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment the nominator has been blocked, and as the username is the same as the museum, it could be a multiple person account meant for the use of museum staff. -- 65.94.171.126 (talk) 05:05, 5 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose WP:PRECISE, WP:OFFICIALNAME, WP:COMMONNAME -- Use shorter titles when unambiguous when choosing between common names. Common names trump official ones. And speedy close as a WP:COI conflict of interest rename. -- 65.94.171.126 (talk) 05:05, 5 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don't agree with your COI comment at all. What conflict of interest is there? If the nominator had been rewriting the article to fill it full of promotional material, that would be conflict, but that's not the case here with this nomination. While we always need to be leery of COI where the subject of an article edits the article, in this case the museum has only made a proposal, and a legitimate one at that (whether one ultimately agrees with it or not - this type of move request is made in good faith all the time). It's not clear to me that there is any demonstrated conflict in respect of this request, and I see no need to chastise the nominator. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 20:41, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The article turned into a place about the opening times of the museum, how much admission is, etc [1] -- 65.94.171.126 (talk) 03:37, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Light Oppose There may be some merit but there are no statistics to show that such a move is warranted. In a Google book search "Banting house" national historic site produced 85 hits[2] and "Banting house" 440 hits[3].--Labattblueboy (talk) 00:39, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Nomination was presumably well-intentioned and made in good faith (and I see absolutely no need to even consider WP:COI issue given the circumstances, as there really isn't any evidence of a COI or abuse here), but I think WP:COMMONNAME trumps the proposal here. We typically only use the full NHSC nomenclature in article titles when the title wouldn't work otherwise (e.g. Sir George-Étienne Cartier National Historic Site). --Skeezix1000 (talk) 20:35, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I suggested this move, and now I agree the page should remain here. You're right that it makes more sense to keep the more commonly searched name. Thanks for informing me. Washoe42 (talk) 21:32, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
