Black hair

It says in the article that the astronaut that she encountered has black hair. According to a video interview with Betty located here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jz9Th_XLDGk she says they had no hair. Rflejeune (talk) 15:17, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

Agony?

According to the article, "Betty exhibited considerable emotional distress during her capture and examination. Dr. Simon ended one session early because tears were flowing down her cheeks and she was in considerable agony."

I recently saw a video interview with Betty Hill at YouTube from 1999, where she stated that she had fun on board the ship. She also denied that they were communicating with her telepathically, as opposed to Barney's testimony. It looks like this should be mentioned in the article. Can you cite a video as a source? Rflejeune (talk) 18:37, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Yes an interview that is on a video can be cited. Don't know how you are planning on using the interview in this article, but if it improves the article then add it. Sgerbic (talk) 01:01, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Dress details?

The article says "five laboratories have conducted chemical and forensic analyses on the dress" Betty was wearing during the alleged abduction. What were the results of these analyses? That would be fairly pertinent and would improve the article. - Nbpolitico (talk) 16:48, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

Title of article

I am a bit surprised that this article is entitled "Betty and Barney Hill abduction". Shouldn't it be something more along the lines of "Betty and Barney Hill alien abduction" or some such? As it stands now, it sounds like a run-of-the-mill kidnapping (i.e., committed by humans and not by aliens). And, of course, the alien component of this abduction is the critical piece of this event. What do others think? Should the article be renamed to somehow clarify that the couple were abducted by aliens? Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 03:27, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Also, should the word "alleged" or "purported" (or some such) be included in the title? Thoughts? Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 21:45, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Why the move?

The article is not a biography at all, it has almost no biographical information. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 01:48, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

That's what I was going to bring up. I am also proposing more of a background biographic section in the earlier stages of the article to give more about their background and life before the abduction. I believe there was a section but it got removed (don't know why).--Nadirali نادرالی (talk) 23:21, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

Even if it did have more biographical information, it seems to me that this article is more appropriately placed into the UFO/Fringe articles category. Given that the only thing notable about either of the Hills was their claimed UFO "encounter" (which apparently was the first widely-publicized UFO "abduction" claim), it seems odd that the article wouldn't be more appropriately, and clearly, placed into the UFO category. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:304:691E:5A29:8475:1190:B9B1:C391 (talk) 00:28, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

More material on Barney and Betty's biography should be added

More material should be added regarding the early life of Barney and Betty separately until they met and married.--Nadirali نادرالی (talk) 21:21, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

Tone

This article reads more like a documentary than an article, with sentences such as "Never in her memory had she recalled dreams in such detail and intensity". While these phrases would be fine in an essay or such, in Wikipedia, being more plain and to the point is preferred. A lot of this article should be copyedited to remove these documentary-like statements, but I don't have the time, and frankly, am not that good at copyediting anyways. Anyone willing to copyedit this? StringTheory11 (t • c) 18:06, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

Why Wiki has rules about WALL-OF-TEXT

11-01/2014 I have an important idea to improve this main article. Although the encyclopedia articles should be on factual evidence that cannot be done in this case but it is worth including this abduction as an article due to the detail, and its links to similar ET encounter cases such as the Roswell incident, and because of Barney Hill's hypnotist audio complete (40 minutes) available to hear free in the YouTube video. That is at least something tangible to examine and made under controlled conditions by a professional medical hypnotist experienced in giving emotional therapy to soldiers that had served in the second world war on the front line. Barney Hill had his teeth shattered by an exploding land mine, so he would qualify for such treatment. Therefore I object to the previous Talk writers complaint on the article tone and am suggesting Wikipedia's editors removes the header at the top of the article which could have all been simply instigated by a closed minded skeptic for the purpose of detering people from reading it. This abduction case cannot be confirmed or dismissed but it is worth documenting on Wikipedia, and the written style is acceptable in that it explains the case fairly well. The new important idea is firstly to remove the Outer Limits TV series science fiction image from the main article on the basis that it does not match the Hill's description and drawing, and to replace it with 2 new Grey alien images which perfectly match the Hill's description which had entered the public domain in 2011, and are not subject to copyright as it is declassified information released on a public need to know basis. The match is so accurate that the Outer Limits image would now look ridiculous if it were kept on the article juxtaposed with the new images. It is something editors would need to vote on before deciding the changes. The source is the You Tube video 'Skinny Bob' which shows the KGB archive of the US Roswell crash and surviving live Grey alien sitting in an interview room, and also being measured. It would appear from very close inspection to be snippets of the real footage - the question is would such intelligence be shared with the USSR by the US. I suggest one still is taken from the seated alien in the interview room showing the side angle and also a second static image shown at the end (seen in some of the many uploads of the video) which has been made up by combining stills from the moving footage, that was a good idea although it would be better if such a still image were re made again professionally without any lines added to the face or clothing such as outlines. There is no sign of any lines added in the moving footage sequences. Particularly the eyes are paisley shaped and slanted downwards in the darkened socket and this is caused by overhanging eyelids, and notice how this eye shape matches Barney Hills drawing of the alien face and 'wrap-around eyes' exactly. Secondly there is extra material on the dark jacket on the shoulder area and a raised up collar that could have been what Barney described as 'a black scarf over the left shoulder', observed in the hypnotist audio as he viewed the 'leader' as seen from behind in the spacecraft 'row of windows' viewing through his binoculars. It would make the article sharper, more positive and open minded if this change could be implemented. At present the knowledge of ET life existance is neither confirmed or dismissed, because the search by astronomers is on going, and the vast distances in space. The Zeta Reticulum stars are over 230 trillion miles away or 39.4 light years, and space instruments would need to be much bigger and much more sensitive in order to recieve good detailed signals and view the planets in detail, but it has been confirmed Zeta 2 Reticuli has an asteroid or ice belt just outside the habitable zone. NASA scientists believe such a belt is an indication or a necessary requirement for a habitable Earth type planet to form in any solar system, just as our solar system has this feature. I will leave it up to Wikipedia editing experts to decide if they wish to consider this new information and vote on making the changes for the purpose of improving the main article to interest readers. Although I am the leader of suggesting this idea, the decision to amend should always be democratic and decided by Wikipedia editors. There is a request made by Wikipedia for images to enhance the main article and this paragraph points exactly where to find the right images that are a perfect match for the Hill's decription and drawing, and I hope that is considered helpful for improvement for the main article as that is the purpose of this contribution and why I have made a good effort to write this on this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.100.54.203 (talk) 16:32, 11 January 2014 (UTC) I have now logged in and uploaded an image to my Wiki Commons account MJTaylor26 that I have created showing an image taken from the YouTube video Skinny Bob that I am recommending is added to the main article and to maybe replace the existing Outer Limits image as it would improve the article - the source is stated as anonymus. I guess YouTube is the publisher. Iwould not know how to add it as I don't know how to copy and paste text, but it has been successfully uploaded and the image was taken by myself using a Nokia C1-01 camera phone directly from a 42" analogue plasma screen.

What happened to Delsey?

I do not want to edit anything.....I am just wondering the same thing.....what happened to Delsey?? Does anyone know?!?!? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.14.143.125 (talk) 22:18, 19 July 2016 (UTC)

It's mentioned that their dog Delsey was with them when they were abducted, but it isn't mentioned again. What happened to it? Was it okay? 86.171.235.100 (talk) 07:44, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

You mean, when they hallucinated they were abducted. C'mon. 98.67.179.37 (talk) 09:31, 5 March 2016 (UTC)

" Documented evidence"

"However, documented evidence indicates that Betty and Barney had never read a book on UFOs prior to their UFO encounter on September 19, 1961."

Not only there is no citation, but the statement itself is highly doubtful - how can one produce "documented evidence" that some person has never read such and such book? :)) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.65.218.105 (talk) 13:45, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

Yeah, that's utter rubbish. 98.67.179.37 (talk) 09:29, 5 March 2016 (UTC)

Attack of the Kidappers from Zeta Reticuli

This article states: "The incident came to be called the "Hill Abduction" or the "Zeta Reticuli Incident" because the couple stated they had been kidnapped for a short time by a UFO." Unless the inhabitants of Zeta Reticuli are known for kidnapping, it isn't clear why that astronautical reference would be associated with the purported events described by this pair.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.50.92.159 (talk) 20:29, April 5, 2016 (UTC)

In my research for an article I plan to write, the abductors did not say where they were from. Instead, they showed Betty Hill a "three dimensional" map of their star system. Betty later sketched the map as she recalled it. When the map was published, an amateur astronomer in Ohio, Marjorie Fish, spent years creating models of different points of view, using all the known data on star locations available at the time. When she finished her analysis, the binary star system of Zeta Riticuli 1 & 2 was the only system that fit the map. This is where the Zeta Riticuli was first named. The source of this particular information is an article in the HuffPost (cited above).— Preceding unsigned comment added by Hendobillie (talkcontribs) 06:40, November 29, 2019 (UTC)
