Response to deletion[edit]

I object to the deletion for two reasons:

  • The Bassmasters Classic, as I have written, has gained substantial attention in the last few years. There is extensive media coverage on ESPN, in Sports Illustrated, and elsewhere. Also, thousands of fans now pack sports arenas to watch the weigh-in. If I could find those "third-party reliable sources" that you are so desperately seeking, they'll tell you how prestigious this event is. I imagine that this is what every bass fisherman (or woman) wants to win at some point in their careers.
  • The supposed lack of third-party reliable sources may have to do with BASS' ownership by ESPN. Here I plead guilty: it's the only source of bass fishing information I know. Someone will have to help me out on this. And quickly, before the page is removed! - Desmond Hobson 22:35, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Since you and User:Pharmboy have objected deletion, I have removed the deletion request. Here in Wikipedia we would like to have articles about (almost) every notable subject, so I think that finding sources is better than simply deleting the article. In my opinion, a pair of references to Sports Illustrated or local newspaper will suffice. Rjgodoy 08:25, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would say don't delete[edit]

The third party is easy stuff, just go to ESPN and such, but not something I expect I will do since I have enough on my plate here. Local newsreports over the last few years in the cities that held the Classic are also sources.

Also, you deleted my edits but the link that demonstrates what I was talking about is at http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/tournaments/majors/news/story?page=b_majors_american They are testing a 6 hole method that they started at the Bassmasters tourney they just had here in my front yard.
