Flat or apartment?[edit]

Shouldn't we use flat rather than apartment seeing as that is mainly an Americanism which wouldn't have been used in Northern Ireland in that time period?--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 16:27, 21 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Main image[edit]

The main image shows the Springmartin Road and is thus highly relevant but the caption is slightly wrong as that peace line separates Highfield and New Barnsley rather than Ballymurphy and Springmartin. The Springmartin area would have straddled both sides of where the wall is now (New Barnsley not becoming republican until soon after this incident) whilst Ballymurphy is on the opposite side of the Springfield Road, facing and to the right of the police station on the right-hand side of the image. Most of Ballymurphy is not visible in the image. I'm not sure what the caption should read as a result but I thought I would mention it here so as an alternative can be devised. I shorten'd the caption and cut the references to Ballymurphy and Springmartin. I'm not sure what else to write in it either, but you know the area better than myself so I'll leav it to you. ~Asarlaí 20:26, 21 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The changes look good, nice work. Keresaspa (talk) 22:34, 21 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. The reworded caption looks good. Unfortunately there isn't any other image available of the Springmartin area. And I haven't located any photos of the actual incident. Perhaps the photojournalists didn't want to risk getting caught in the three-way crossfire! It was even risky for the ambulance workers to rescue the injured.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 06:23, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
