Roane's division[edit]

According to Shea's Fields of Blood, Roane's division really functioned more as an "on paper" reserve division and did not constitute a field force - Cooper's brigade was in the Indian Territory recuperating from its defeat at Old Fort Wayne and the four Texas dismounted cavalry regiments in Roane's brigade (with Clark's Missouri regiment) were initially in Marmaduke's cavalry division before they were dismounted and the brigade as a whole was placed in Frost's division for the active campaign and battle (pages 85-87, 217, the order of battle on page 292).
