April and Alix[edit]

During the coverage and in the official reports, Ross and Klineman are referred to as "April and Alix," which is the name they chose to compete under. Given that, is it proper that they are still referred to as "Ross and Klineman" on this page? Hypernormal1 (talk) 18:02, 5 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Tricky and not sure, as i can live with both. What do others think? Kante4 (talk) 16:27, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's worth noting that this page as it stands is not even internally consistent (for example, Lidy and Ledia are correctly referred to by their first names, as that was how they chose to compete). At the very least, if we're going to name players by their last names in spite of their choices, we should at least do it for everyone. Hypernormal1 (talk) 18:04, 5 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's a fairly standard naming convention in Brazil for athletes to be referred to by first name only; much less common for athletes from other nations. I'd be ok with changing it here for the Americans, as they are listed in coverage/reports as April and Alix. -- Jonel (Speak to me) 18:20, 5 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Lidy and Leila are from Cuba. Hypernormal1 (talk) 02:33, 6 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If you'd like me to say "I'd also be ok with changing it for the Cubans instead, as standard style would use last names for most sportspeople despite how one particular competition addresses them," then, sure, mission successful. -- Jonel (Speak to me) 04:34, 6 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
