The article stated that the house was built by Astor, who purchased the land from Barreda. But, in fact, Barreda built the mansion, a story told by his grandson, Frederick Barreda Sherman, in a privately published book, based upon family papers now in the library of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lastudies (talkcontribs) 06:28, 20 July 2010
